TDI Seeks Input on Catastrophe Data Calls

Jul 25, 2018 | eNews

In response to insurer requests, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) has created a draft concept for standardized catastrophe data calls. The concept is based on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ (NAIC) catastrophe data call but also includes modifications to capture Texas-specific information.

TDI will accept comments on the draft concepts until August 27, 2018, emailed to DataCall@tdi.texas.gov. The goal is that insurers will be able to provide necessary information more quickly and efficiently in the wake of a natural disaster.

The Texas Department of Insurance has developed concepts for a standardized catastrophe data call to make it easier for insurance companies to provide information quickly after a disaster. TDI’s concepts are based largely on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ catastrophe data call, with some Texas specific data elements added. TDI seeks input on these concepts, particularly the Texas specific data elements and the ability of insurance companies to provide the information quickly after a disaster.

To submit comments on the proposal, email DataCall@tdi.texas.gov by August 27.
