Doug Slape Named Second-in-Command at TDI

The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) announced that Insurance Commissioner Kent Sullivan has named Doug Slape second-in-command at the organization.

Slape has been with TDI since 1988 and has held the position of deputy commissioner of the Financial Regulation Division for three years. The Division oversees insurance companies and agents in the state, and conducts market examinations to ensure the strength of the Texas market.

“Doug has been instrumental in making financial regulation in Texas among the strongest in the nation,” Commissioner Sullivan said. “He has a unique ability to keep a watchful eye on both the state and global markets – both of which are essential for protecting the best interests of Texas consumers.”

In Slape’s place, Jamie Walker will take over as deputy commissioner of the Financial Regulation Division at TDI. She has been with the organization since 2000 and has served as assistant deputy of the division for almost three years.
