Acrisure Acquires Alaska USA Insurance Brokers

Brokerage group Acrisure is the 13th largest insurance broker in the United States, and it operates agencies in more than 20 states, including Texas.

It has 25 agency partners who hold property and casualty or life, accident, and health licenses in Texas. Acrisure itself holds a surplus lines license in Texas and has filed policies with the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX) since March 2014. SLTX data shows that in 2016 year to date, Acrisure has filed $3.1 million in surplus lines premium.

Acrisure announced that it has purchased Alaska USA Insurance Brokers’ commercial insurance and employee benefits book of business. The new company will operate as Insurance Brokers of Alaska and will not be removed from its existing location in Anchorage, Alaska.

In addition, Acrisure has previously acquired other agency partners that participate in the Texas surplus lines marketplace. Commercial Insurance Solutions Group in Dallas, Texas, and Frates Insurance and Risk Management in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, were both purchased by Acrisure and now file under the Acrisure surplus lines license. Mullis Newby Hurst in Addison, Texas, and Upstream, Inc. in Houston, Texas, are Acrisure agency partners, but file under their own surplus lines licenses.

KF&B, Inc. in Glendale, California, also held a Texas surplus lines license and now files under the Acrisure MGA license, which is a subsidiary of Acrisure. According to SLTX data, Acrisure MGA has filed $2.6 million in surplus lines premium in 2016 year to date.
