NFIP Extension Rolled into Spending Bill

Congress has extended the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) until December 21, 2018, by including the program in a two-week government funding bill.

H. J. Res. 143 was introduced in the House of Representatives on Monday, December 3, 2018, and passed the House and Senate on Thursday, December 6, 2018. President Donald Trump signed the bill into law not long after.

The bill comes after the NFIP was recently extended for seven days to December 7, 2018. Those on both sides of the aisle have advocated for a reform of the program, but a solution has not yet been taken up by both houses of Congress.
