SLTX Hosts “Legally Speaking” CE Event

SLTX welcomed insurance professionals to Austin on Friday, April 12, 2019, for Legally Speaking, a continuing education event for surplus lines agents and risk managers in Texas.

As part of the event, attendees received up to four (4) continuing education credits. Julia Van Buren, AVP, Surplus Lines Tax & Licensing Compliance, MarketScout, presented “Ethics and the Insurance Industry,” an overview of ethical principles and how they apply to the insurance arena. Alex Gonzales, Partner, Duane Morris, shared relevant insurance laws in Texas with “SLTX, the Laws, and You,” while Chris Griesel, former Parliamentarian for the Texas House of Representatives, presented “Surplus Lines Legislative Impacts,” a look at past and upcoming laws in the Texas Legislature that affect the industry.

Through its education initiative, SLTX plans to hold similar events in other major metropolitan areas in Texas. Please share any venue or instructor recommendations with the SLTX Education Team.
