Members of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) and the American Insurance Association (AIA) have agreed to a merger, effective January 1, 2019. The new group will be referred to as the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCI).

“APCI will reflect the broad diversity of the united membership and continue both organizations’ strong support for promoting and improving private competitive insurance market solutions and the U.S. state-based regulatory system through effective public policy engagement,” said AIA Chair Anthony J. Kuczinski and PCI Chair of the Board of Governors Pete McPartland in a joint statement.

The combined organization represents nearly 60% of the U.S. property-casualty market. PCI and AIA first announced that merger plans were in the works in June of 2018. On December 21, 2018, they shared that members had strongly approved a merger.
