Following severe flooding in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties. The governor issued a proclamation that a severe weather event began on June 24, 2019, in these counties that caused widespread and significant property damage.

The proclamation ensures that state resources are available for local officials to cope with this disaster. State representatives are already working to provide necessary resources to these counties.

“The state of Texas is doing everything it can to ensure these three counties have the resources they need to respond to these storms,” Gov. Abbott said. “By working closely with local officials, we will put the communities of the Rio Grande Valley on a path to recovery.”
